People snore for a vast array of different reasons. Some people snore because they suffer from a breathing problem while others do so because the tissues of their throat are loose and weak. Advances in medical science have made it possible for anyone who has a problem with snoring to be able to treat it effectively, regardless of the cause of their snoring.

Keeping yourself in good health is one of the best ways to prevent snoring. This would mean not smoking, not consuming too much alcohol, and exercising regularly. Even though there are surgical procedures that have been designed to treat snoring, there are other much less drastic methods that can be employed to keep you from snoring.

Throat Sprays to Treat Snoring

People whose snoring is directly correlated with a breathing or sinus problem may be able to use certain throat sprays to prevent snoring. If you wake up with a dry or sore throat after having snored, using an over the counter throat spray may work for you.

The reason for this feeling is that the soft tissues in your throat are bruised from hours of vibrations in your soft palate. The vibrations can also dry out your soft tissues. Preventing snoring with a throat spray is similar to using a nasal spray to combat congestion.

A throat spray is made up of natural oils, when you spray these in your throat the soft palate and the uvula, or the tissue that dangles at the back of your throat, are dampened. This will eliminate or at least reduce the vibrations so that at the very least your snoring will be less loud. Many throat sprays also have ingredients to help you breathe better.

Natural Snoring Cures

Preventing snoring can now be achieved with herbal remedies. Some health stores offer anti-snoring pills. You can use these pills to combat congestion and help you breathe more easily. They also work to break down mucous that can make the problem of snoring worse than it already is. Other herbal and natural snoring prevention remedies you can obtain are nose drops and nasal sprays that will also aid in opening up airways.

Mouth Breathing

Snoring is often caused by breathing through your mouth. If your nose is congested, your body will automatically start breathing through your mouth. People whose snoring is caused by breathing with their mouths instead of their noses can wear special mouth guards designed for snorers that correct this problem.
